the new camellias press their pink faces against the window from outside. i guess i should feel paranoid, being watched in this way, but it only startles me for a moment when the black of night first drops down around me.

spent most of the day trying to feel grounded, trying to get to that good and right feeling (you know the one?) and i never really got there. just wanted to feel like things are on track and i’m doing what i’m supposed to do. god and just now i got a foot cramp so painful it made me holler and throw myself across the bed like a crazy person while ed tried not to laugh.

i’ll try again for something good tomorrow.

boring

it’s the boredom. i’m bored out of my mind. bored out of my skull. seems impossible to be bored in this world, but oh… my… god… i am frickin’ boooooored. of course, i can/must/will change this, but the moment of time when the immense depth of your boredom becomes clear and it feels like there’s nothing you can do to curb it (no matter how untrue this is!) is so so very miserable.

it’s a terrible place for any person with an addictive personality too. i mean, these are the seemingly unbearable but all too natural lulls and transitions in life that used to make us reach for a drink. bored. miserable. must shift now. must shift fast. now! fast! just add [drug of choice]. right?

well, that’s obviously not an option for me today so i am riding the bored train. and riding and riding until i get to where i am headed.

pretty 2010 (january to june)

stealing this year in review idea from shari. this recapping business is fun (although mine’s not half as artful as hers!).

lots of milestones this year, a little travel, a lot of birdwatching, tons of coffee + tea, and so much good food. you may have seen some of these here or on flickr before. others i’m sharing here for the first time.

here’s to a pretty dang pretty 2010!
